Homeward Bound
Jim has made a ton of progress since our last post. Last Friday he was transferred from the intensive care unit to a rehabilitation unit where they've been working on both physical and cognitive therapy. When I saw him walk in the room after his first therapy session I asked him how it went. He brushed it off as easy then promptly laid in bed and passed out. I guess it wasn't as easy as he led on. The Docs gave Jim a hall pass today so he came in to the studio to check out how the edit is going for Nitro Circus 3D. See the attached pic. For the record, Jim is walking just fine without the wheelchair but he likes cruising around on it for the attention. It's like a dude walking around with a puppy in a park full of hot chicks. The best news of all is that Jim is being released from the hospital tomorrow. They tell us he's good to go. It's been a wild ride over the past couple of weeks as we've watched Jim go through the healing process. Even though we (Nitro Crew) know that the stakes are high with the stunts that we do, we never like to see a brother get hurt. It may not look like it on film but we go to great lengths to avoid major injury. We are extremely grateful that Jim is alright. Jim and the rest of the Nitro Circus family truly appreciate all of the support and love that has poured in.
From Jim’s Dad
First I want to thank everyone for their good wishes, prayers and support. The Nitro Circus Family has been really amazing during the last several, difficult days. I knew that they had a special bond, but the care and love they have shown for Jim, Stephanie, Chris and I is proof that family is the right term term for how they feel about each other. Jeremy and Jill are stepping up in a way that is beyond any expectation by having Jim come stay with them once he is released (hoping for today!) from the hospital. This a is a huge responsibility that they seem to have no hesitation in accepting. Need less to say, we are grateful beyond any ability to express it.
As impressive as Jim's recovery to this point has been, he has a lot of work ahead of him before he is physically recovered and completely back from having his bell rung really hard. He will need and welcome your friendship and contact, but please be patient and understand that he may go off script on occasion.
Thanks again to the whole Nitro Crew for everything, and especially to Jeremy and Jill for taking care of our boy.

Great Progress
With each day that passes Jim improves a ton. Today he has taken two walks around his floor. He's been doing left turn laps and has been joking that he is training for NASCAR. He set his fastest lap time on his second walk. Jim also hit another milestone where is now allowed to eat anything he wants. We're going to get him a big fat burrito, pizza or something for his next meal. Unfortunately, Jim still can't drink anything he wants. He asked me for a Jack & Coke but the Doc overheard and foiled our plan. He's going to have to stick to water and juice for a few days. I don't know how he's done it, but Jim has manged to have a string of pretty nurses. Seems like he's rigged the system a little. Jim is very alert, talking a lot and wanting to get the hell out of the hospital. He keeps telling me that the hospital is weird and that he'll do much better hanging out at home. His memory and cognitive awareness is really good. The day of his accident and the day after are very fuzzy. I imagine it's going to be several days or weeks before he's 100% clear headed. Although Jim has seen better days, all of us that are close to him are incredibly thankful and grateful that he is doing so well. As always, we thank everyone for the continued support and concern for Jim. - Jeremy
Jim & Tommy’s Wild Ride
As many of you have heard our Nitro brother Jim DeChamp was injured while attempting a car stunt for our upcoming Nitro Circus movie. Jim was immediately taken to the hospital where he has been treated for head and back trama. Because Jim was knocked unconsious for several minutes our biggest concern was serious head trama. Head scans and other tests are all very encouraging. The EMTs put Jim into a medically induced coma to prevent swelling of the brain. He was then transferred by helicopter to an excellent trama hospital in Utah. The first 24 hours were stressful as the doctors were assessing the gravity of the injuries. We are very happy to report that Jim should make a full recovery. Although he has been heavily medicated, Jim is awake and conscious. He has done very well with memory and cognitive tests. In fact, Jim's sense of humor is very much unchanged. Nonetheless, Jim will definitely be out of action for a while as he banged himself up pretty good. X-Rays indicated that he fractured a couple vertebra in his back. He has full movement of all limbs and there is NO paralysis. He had surgery yesterday to get things fixed. Everything went exactly as planned by a very qualified surgical team. Jim actually walked around a bit today as part of physical therapy. All in all, we care for all of our Nitro family very much. We are very thankful that Jim is doing so well. He is a very strong and determined individual. We thank everybody who has reached out with concern. We will try to keep you updated with his progress.
